Insurance Claims Assistance

An honest, independent inspection of your home’s storm damage, with clear documentation to help you understand what we find.

Insurance is Stressful. Start with What We Can See.

Filing an insurance claim for roof damage can feel like its own project on top of the storm that caused it. Wolf Roofing’s role in insurance claims assistance is simple: inspect the physical condition of your home, document what we find, and provide you with a clear estimate for the work your home needs.

Our inspection is independent of any insurance decision. The assessment is not shaped by what a claim might cover. We look at your home first and document the condition we find. If you choose to file an insurance claim, you can use our inspection findings and documentation as you communicate with your insurance company.

Where Wolf Fits in Your Insurance Claim

Wolf Roofing is a roofing contractor, not a stand-in for your insurance company, insurance adjuster, or public adjuster. As part of our insurance claims assistance, our job is to evaluate the physical condition of your roof and exterior, document damage and other relevant conditions, and explain our findings to you in straightforward terms.

If you have already had an insurance inspection, we can also compare our documented findings with the information provided by the insurance company’s adjuster so you can better understand where the assessments differ. We do not determine what your insurance policy covers or make decisions for your insurance company.

Why We Start with the Home, Not the Insurance Claim

Some homeowners want an inspection before they file; others file first and have us inspect after. Either order works. We inspect the property and document what we actually find. The assessment is not shaped by what a claim might cover. That inspection allows us to give you an accurate picture of the physical condition of your home so you can make informed decisions about your next steps.

If you believe your home has sustained storm damage, we recommend contacting your insurance company promptly to ask about the reporting requirements and deadlines that apply to your policy.

HAAG-Certified Inspections in Central Iowa

Our inspectors are HAAG-certified, trained to identify and document storm, hail, and wind damage. During a thorough exterior inspection, we look at the roof and other potentially affected materials, including:

  • Roofing shingles and other roofing materials
  • Siding
  • Fascia
  • Gutters and downspouts
  • Flashings and other exterior components
  • Other visible storm-related conditions

We photograph and document the conditions we observe and prepare an estimate based on the work we believe the property actually needs. That documentation gives you a clear record of our findings.

Document, Compare, Understand

Already had an insurance inspection? That’s where our documentation can be particularly helpful. We can compare what our HAAG-certified inspectors documented with the findings contained in the insurance company’s inspection or estimate. If there are differences, we’ll point them out and explain what we observed at your home.

Wolf Roofing explains to you what we observed and documented. Your insurance company determines how your policy applies to those findings.

For example, there may be differences in:

  • The areas identified as damaged
  • The number or type of materials identified
  • Whether a particular exterior component was documented
  • The scope of repairs identified
  • Measurements or quantities
  • Materials or construction details

No Surprises

Before any work begins, we’ll review the scope of work with you so you understand what we’re recommending. You’ll know what we’re proposing to do, what materials will be used, and what the project involves before work begins. What we promise is what we deliver.

Independent of Insurance Companies

Wolf Roofing is independent of insurance companies. That means we don’t inspect a roof based on what we think an insurance company will or will not pay for. We inspect the property based on its physical condition.

Our estimate reflects the work we believe your home needs, not an amount we are trying to make fit an insurance estimate. In short, we document what we see, compare information when appropriate, and help homeowners understand the differences.

Insurance Claims Assistance FAQs

Will Wolf Roofing contact my insurance company for me?

We leave that decision and initial communication to you. Our role is to inspect your property, document what we find, and provide you with our estimate. If you decide to file a claim, you can use our inspection documentation when communicating with your insurance company.

Can Wolf Roofing tell me what my insurance policy covers?

We can explain our inspection findings and estimate, but we don’t interpret your insurance policy or determine what your policy covers. For questions about your policy, coverage, deductibles, deadlines, or claim decisions, we recommend speaking directly with your insurance company or insurance professional.

What if our inspection doesn’t match the insurance company’s estimate?

Different inspections can identify different conditions or scopes of work. We’ll explain what our inspectors observed and documented and identify differences between our estimate and the information you’ve received from your insurance company. Your insurance company determines how your policy applies to the documented damage.

How long do I have to file a claim after storm damage?

That depends on your specific policy, so we always recommend confirming your deadline directly with your insurance company. In general, it’s worth starting the process soon after a significant storm rather than waiting. For general consumer guidance, the Iowa Insurance Division is also a helpful resource.
